**Please note that the guidelines below apply only to the scholarships that are exclusively administered by SPARK. 


GUIDELINES

  • No scholarship committee member shall be related to any applicant.

  • Student name and school name are redacted prior to review and selection by committee.

  • Scholarship awards shall be based on merit and qualifications and shall not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, or disability.

  • SPARK scholarship committee will utilize established rubric during the selection process. 


    SPARK is only a part of the  selection process for the following exclusively administered scholarships:

Dr. Edward L. Kelly Scholarship (Word)
$1,500 scholarship to three graduating PWCS high school seniors who intend to pursue studies to enter the teaching profession.

**Application submission deadline is March 29, 2019.

Micron Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarship (Word)
$1,500 to graduating PWCS high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in a technology, engineering, or mathematics field.

**Application submission deadline is March 29, 2019.

Lockheed Martin Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Scholarship (Word)
$1,500 to a graduating PWCS high school senior who plans to pursue a career in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics field. The recipient will also be eligible to apply for a Lockheed Martin paid internship opportunity. 

**Application submission deadline is March 29, 2019.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Scholarship (Word)
$1,000 to one graduate of PWCS who completed a VDOE approved CTE sequence of courses and plans to pursue a Professional Certification, an Associate in Science (A.S.) Degree, or an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.)
Degree.

**Application submission deadline is March 29, 2019.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Post - Secondary Scholarship (Word)
$1,000 to one graduate of PWCS who completed a VDOE approved CTE sequence of courses and plans to pursue a CTE plan of study at a post-secondary institute.

**Application submission deadline is March 29, 2019

Nursing Scholarship (Word)
$1,000 to one graduate of PWCS who participated in the Licensed Practical Nursing program and is continuing a plan of study in nursing.

Chick-fil-A Prince William County Scholarship
This scholarship awards $4,000 to one PWCS graduating high school senior. 

**Application submission deadline is March 29, 2019


YES Scholarship (Word)
This scholarship awards $5,000 to one graduating high school senior that attended Yorkshire Elementary School for at least one year. 

**Application submission deadline is March 29, 2019


SPARK manages the funds for the following scholarships, which are designated by school. You must attend the school associated with the scholarship to be eligible to apply if noted. SPARK acts solely as the fiscal agent for the following scholarships and is not part of the selection process, therefore they are not exclusively administered by SPARK. 

Austin Trenum Memorial Scholarship- Brentsville District High School
$1,000 to graduating high school senior at Brentsville District High School. Please contact the Brentsville District High School counseling department for application and details.


Kristen Marie Harkness Memorial Scholarship- Osbourn Park High School
$2,000 to graduating high school senior at Osbourn Park High School. Please contact the Osbourn Park High School counseling department for application and details.



Sara Lott Memorial Scholarship- Forest Park High School
$1,500 to graduating high school senior at Forest Park High School. Please contact the Forest Park High School counseling department for application and details.


David J Cobb Foundation Scholarship
$1,000 to one graduate of PWCS who plans to pursue a degree in the medical field.  

Renee Lacey Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship to a graduate of PWCS with the following requirements:

Applicant must have participated in a nontraditional                        program such as:
- GED
- Computer-Based Instruction (CBI) - - Independence Nontraditional School
- Juvenile Detention Center
 All applicants must graduate by August 1, 2019.


Victor A. Cahoon Scholarship- Osbourn Park High School
$3,000 to graduating high school senior at Osbourn Park High School. Please use the link below to find the criteria or contact the Osbourn Park High School counseling department for further information.

Payton's Project- Freeze Bullying Scholarship Application

This scholarship awards $1,000 to one eligible graduating high school senior from
 each of the twelve (12) Prince William County High Schools, that plan to pursue studies at a higher learning institute.


Ryan S. Heckman Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship awards $2,500 to one graduating PWCS high school senior who has lost a sibling (includes step/half siblings).


Kathleen Getzewich Memorial Scholarship
The Kathleen Getzewich Memorial Scholarship is pleased to offer a $1,000 scholarship to a Prince William County graduating high school senior.

Mrs. Getzewich taught students attending Dumfries, Henderson, and Marumsco Hills Elementary Schools in Prince William County throughout a 25-year teaching career; she was certified to teach Elementary Education and English for Speakers of Other Languages.

Apple Federal Credit Union Future Educator Scholarship
This scholarship awards $2,000 to at least one graduating high school senior with the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior attending a Prince William County Public High School who is planning to further his/her education by enrolling at a four year college or university.
  • The applicant must plan to enroll in a teacher preparation program to pursue teacher certification.
  • The applicant must be at least one of the following:  Member of Today’s Students Tomorrow’s Teachers (TSTT); Student enrolled in the Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow (VTfT) course;  Active participant in the high school’s Educators Rising organization.

Northern Virginia Community College Growing Our Own Scholarship
The Northern Virginia Community College Education Foundation has partnered with Prince William County Schools Growing Our Own program to establish an annual scholarship award to be provided to two graduating high school seniors who intend to pursue studies to enter the teaching profession.


Scholarship Award: $2,500 

Eligibility Criteria 

• The applicant must be a graduating senior attending a Prince William County Public High School who is planning to further his/her education by enrolling at Northern Virginia Community College for two years. 

• The applicant must plan to transfer to a four-year college/university and enroll in a teacher preparation program to pursue teacher certification.

• The applicant must be at least one of the following: 

1. Member of Today’s Students Tomorrow’s Teachers™ (TSTT)
2. Student enrolled in the Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow (VTfT) course 
3. Active participant in the high school’s Educators Rising® chapter
