Below are scholarship opportunities that are not facilitated through SPARK but open to eligible PWCS students. SPARK facilitated scholarships will be posted in February of 2023. 

Dr. Renee H. Lacey Scholarships & Awards (Download)
These $500-1,000 scholarships/awards (5 total) will be awarded to applicants who are participants in the following programs: GED, Computer-Based Instruction (CBI), Independence Nontraditional School, Juvenile Detention Center.

SPARK, the education foundation for Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS), has awarded scholarships to 35 graduating high school seniors this spring, in a total of $58,000. While SPARK manages over 20 scholarship funds, the Foundation manages the following scholarships:

The Dr. Edward L. Kelly Memorial Scholarship supports three graduating high school seniors who intend to become teachers with $1,500 scholarships. Dr. Kelly served as Superintendent of PWCS for 18 years. The recipients are:

• Anya Barret – Patriot High School
• Sarah Arnold – Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School
• Emileigh Mills – Unity Reed High School

The Micron and Lockheed Martin Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Scholarships were awarded to six graduating high school seniors who intend to pursue professional certification or careers in STEM fields. The recipients are: 

• Anthony Perry – Forest Park High School
• Huyen Huynh – Osbourn Park High School

• Keira Schoolcraft – Osbourn Park High School
• Max Lawson – Colgan High School
• Biswesh Dhungana – Osbourn Park High School
• Joel Velarde – Osbourn Park High School

The Chick-fil-A Prince William County Scholarship awards a $4,000 scholarship to one graduating high school senior. The recipient is:

• Carlos Sanchez – Freedom High School

The Yorkshire Elementary School (YES) scholarship awards $5,000 to one graduating high school senior who attended Yorkshire Elementary for at least one year. This year’s recipient is:

• Tuan Minh Vuong Tran – Unity Reed High School

The Lillian M. Orlich Scholarship honors one male and one female senior who attend Osbourn Park High School and demonstrate leadership, hard work and perseverance, integrity, compassion, and sincere desire to serve others, especially the youth of our society. The recipients are:

• Jake Waldman
• Iqra Ahmad

The Red Lawson Scholarship Program provides scholarships to graduates of PWCS who completed a Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) approved Career and Technical Education (CTE) sequence of courses and plan to pursue a professional certification, an Associate in Science degree, or Associate in Applied Science degree, or pursue a CTE plan of study at a post-secondary institute. The recipients are:

• Lindsey Martin – Patriot High School
• Isaac Pixton – Woodbridge High School

The CTE Scholarship for Students Attending Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC), awards one graduate of PWCS who completed a VDOE approved CTE sequence of courses and plans to pursue a CTE plan of study at NVCC. This scholarship award is from the Lake Ridge Rotary. This year’s recipients are:

• Leanne Lee – Patriot High School
• Gabriel Castillo – Freedom High School
